Maryvale High School students recently swapped their regular sixth and seventh period classes for a presentation about drug-free living by some special guest speakers.

Andrew Reyes, a 2000 Olympic track and field athlete from Liberia, spoke to students about how he has avoided drugs and alcohol throughout his life, as well as how keeping fit is the way to a healthy body and a healthy mind.

The Partnership's Colleen Pyra also spoke, stressing the importance of making healthy choices and how those choices affect the rest of one’s life – an important message for teens.

The presentations were organized by MHS student Dieu’merci Sababera, who was tasked with organizing a community outreach event as part of his involvement in the Partnership's Teen Leadership program.
